OBITUARY
_____________Mary Eliza Baumbach was born August 25th, 1843 in Woodcock township, Pa., and passed away August 8th, 1919. She was the daughter of Joseph and Clarissa Thayer. June 20th, 1861 she was united in marriage with John S. Baumbach, who departed this life on Easter Sunday, April 4th, 1915. To their union were born seven children viz: Louisa, deceased; Geo. E. of Nelson Nebraska; Mrs. Wm A. Voigt, Nelson, Nebraska; Nellie, deceased; Mrs. W. B. Jones, of Superior, Nebraska; Charles E. of Union City, Pa.; Mrs. Glenn L. Spencer, of Sturgis, Pa. Three brothers, Joseph, Nathan, Nelson Thayer and two sisters, Mrs. William Stager and Mrs. Alex Orr, have preceeded her across the river.
The deceased was converted and united with the Methodist church in Woodcock boro, about forty years ago, and hers was a life of unselfish Christian service, always considering the good of others, thinking no sacrifice too great in her desire to be helpful to those about her, a host of friends will cherish her memory. While her health had been failing for several years she had been seriously ill but for a few days, when she passed away at the home of her youngest daughter, Mrs. Glenn Spencer, where the funeral was held on Monday afternoon, at 1:30 o'clock. The services were conducted by Rev. Chas. E. Petree of the M.E. church at Union City and interment made in the Swift-Lang cemetery near Woodcock boro. The relatives and friends present from a distance were; Mrs. Wm. A. Voigt and Mrs. W. B. Jones, of Nebraska; Mrs. Mary Thayer and Mrs Lottie Norris of Kane, Pa.; Mr. Clarence Thayer and son, Gary, of Oil City, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Orr and Mr. Guy Orr of Richmond; Mr. and Mrs F. L. Peters of Saegertown; Mr. H. B. Stanford, son, Charles and daughter, Ester, of Cambridge Springs.
