Tubing down the Guadalupe River

Want more than boating activities?  Right below the Canyon Dam off FM 306, you can go tubing down the Guadalupe River.  Several river outfitters are located along the highway.

The Canyon Lake Gorge was opened in 2007 and offers tours of rock strata as old as 100 million years showing fossils and a set of dinosaur tracks, and forms a new ecosystem for wildlife with carp and other creatures in a series of pools fed by springs and waterfalls. The Gorge Preservation Society formed as a local citizen's group is developing long-term plans for the Gorge in partnership with the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Canyon Dam is on the north side near Canyon City.  The dam is 5 kilometers in length and rises to a height of 224 feet above the river bed.  Take a stroll across the dam and take some outstanding water scenery photos along the way.
