Boerne, Texas

Boerne (pronouced burn-ee), the county seat for Kendall County, is a beautiful small German heritage town that is conveniently located on IH 10 and just a short drive from San Antonio. The population of Boerne is approximately 15,000 but increases dramatically during the tourist season.

Cheryl Ladd of Charlie's Angels fame was born in Boerne.

Ludwig Boerne

Boerne was named in honor of Ludwig Boerne, a German poet. Ironically, he never saw the town that bears his name. His bronze statue is located on the Boerne Public Library grounds.

The old county courthouse is located across the street from the new courthouse in Boerne. It was built in 1870 and the front section was added to the building in 1909. This courthouse remains in use today which makes it the second oldest courthouse in Texas.
